STL Solutions for
Cable Landing Stations

Where the world's submarine cables come ashore, STL delivers the optical fiber, distributed sensing, and connectivity infrastructure that powers next-generation cable landing stations — engineered for terabit-era capacity and physical-layer assurance from the beach manhole to the backbone.

The STL Advantage for Outside Plant Solutions

A cable landing station is where the global internet physically arrives on shore. Every CLS must balance three forces at once — the bandwidth demand of AI and cloud, the resilience expectations of national infrastructure, and the operational efficiency required to keep route economics competitive. STL partners with operators across all three.

Capacity

Terabit-era fiber

Submarine systems are migrating to 400G and 800G coherent wavelengths, demanding ultra-low-loss fiber and large effective area. STL’s G.654.E platform is engineered for the link budgets and span economics of next-generation transoceanic cables.

Security

Physical-layer awareness

Submarine cable cuts, vessel anchor strikes, and unauthorized intrusion remain a structural risk to the global digital economy. STL Sensron transforms every meter of deployed fiber into a continuous, real-time monitoring sensor.

Continuity

Beach manhole to backbone

STL designs the full optical chain — submarine-grade fiber, sensing instrumentation, terrestrial transport cable, and connectivity housings — as a single, factory-verified system that lands at the CLS and threads cleanly into the national backbone.

CLS Solutions

STL brings two core technologies to the cable landing station — Sensron for distributed sensing and security, and the G.654.E platform for ultra-low-loss, large-effective-area transmission fiber. Together they cover the two questions every CLS operator has to answer: how do I keep the cable safe, and how do I move more bits over it.

01 Fiber Optic Sensing

Sensron

STL Sensron is a distributed fiber sensing platform that turns the deployed cable itself into a continuous, real-time monitor. Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) detect intrusions, vessel anchor strikes, and geological events along the full length of the route. Mission-critical for cable landing stations where physical-layer awareness is non-negotiable.

02 Submarine & Long-Haul Fiber

G.654.E STL Solution

STL's ITU-T G.654.E compliant optical fiber delivers ultra-low attenuation and a large effective area — purpose-engineered for 400G and 800G coherent transmission across submarine and long-haul terrestrial routes. Lower loss per kilometer, higher launch-power headroom, and tighter dispersion control translate directly into longer unrepeatered spans and cleaner route economics.
