Lately, we’ve seen incredible advancements in technology, especially in healthcare. One of the biggest benefits is how it can really improve people’s quality of life. Not only does it enhance patient health, but it also helps lighten the load for hospital staff. Three key elements driving this transformation are automation, digitisation, and tech enablement.
We’re in a pretty exciting era for smart hospitals. It’s estimated that the market value for hospital management systems could reach a whopping USD 83.1 billion by 2026! Clearly, technology is revolutionising healthcare.
But has this transformation touched each and every life on this earth?
A step in the right direction – Revolutionising healthcare
The government of India has launched two schemes to revolutionise equitable healthcare for all.
Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) was launched on 23rd September 2018 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. AB PM-JAY is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which aims at providing a health cover of ₹ 5,00,000 per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation to over ten crores of poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) that form the bottom 40% of the Indian population.
The Indian government has also launched the ABHA card, which is managed under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This is a digital healthcare initiative of the National Health Authority (NHA). Under this mission, having this health card, the citizens of India are provided with numerous benefits, such as hassle-free access to medical treatments and healthcare facilities, easy sign-up options for personal health record applications (like ABDM ABHA app), and trustable identity.
STL has always taken pride in supporting the nation by helping to build the foundation for Digital India. To improve & offer world-class healthcare services in various states, STL recently collaborated with Gennet Labs, an Estonian IT healthcare company which has three decades of experience in implementing Hospital Management Software. STL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gennet Labs in collaboration with the Estonian Embassy to collaborate in the field of Hospital Management Software and Cybersecurity. This joint declaration aims to bring advanced digital solutions to healthcare institutions. Through this initiative, STL and Gennet will help digitise and interconnect the healthcare system. benefitting millions of citizens in the state.
This aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve patient care, and streamline hospital processes through cutting-edge technology. The new digital hospital management system will integrate core functions such as patient records, appointment scheduling, billing, resource management, E-prescription management, Laboratory data integration, and Interoperability with smart health devices into a single, user-friendly platform.
The Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) will collect and analyse data and provide periodic reports on the performance of health services and the available human resources and infrastructure services facilities. Through STL’s integrated HMIS, BMS will be able to monitor the quality of health services through:
- Simplified patient data management
- Improved clinical workflow
- Efficient use of resources
- Unified healthcare services
- Data-informed public health planning
By leveraging STL’s expertise in digital infrastructure and Gennet’s innovative healthcare solutions, this system is set to empower hospitals with real-time data access, optimised workflows, and improved patient outcomes.
The partnership between STL and Genet promises to deliver a seamless, data-driven approach that elevates the standards of hospital operations and patient care.
