22 January 2024 will remain a memorable day in the history of India and the hearts of Indians. Ayodhyay, a city in Uttar Pradesh, India, considered the birthplace of Lord Rama, witnessed a grand celebration for the inauguration of the auspicious Ram Mandir.

The city has been preparing for this “historic moment” that will further enrich Indian heritage and culture and take our development journey to new heights. Lamps were lit, and flowers adorned each corner of the new Ram temple, with over 8,000 special invitees, dignitaries and celebrities, setting the stage for the Pran Pratishtha, the consecration ceremony of the new idol of Lord Rama in the new temple in Ayodhya. 

All the arrangements and amenities were world-class and impeccable. But do you know how Ayodhyay prepared for this watershed moment?

A paradigm shift – Fueled by infrastructure growth

A swanky new airport, a redeveloped railway station, multilevel car parking, e-buses, multilingual tourist apps, and new luxury hotels – to host an event of this scale, the holy city of Ayodhya had to undergo a complete facelift and redevelopment shift fuelled by future-proof network infrastructure. One of the biggest service providers in India had a massive task in hand  – to build a world-class network in a stretch of ~10 kms that could support uninterrupted internet connectivity at 5G speeds – and all this in a span of less than 10 days

The service provider approached STL’s team with a ‘once in a lifetime’ but challenging opportunity. There were several challenges before our team, including time constraints:

• Deep, congested, narrow streets with heavy sewage lines and high-tension power lines
• High security and difficulty of access 
• Limited working window of a maximum of 8 hours per day
• Extreme weather conditions with severe cold waves in the north

However, the STL team readily accepted this challenge and laid a concrete plan of action to gain the desired results within the time. A detailed survey was conducted to identify the best feasible project sections based on the availability of access. The team leveraged the resources according to the project requirement to avoid rework and connectivity delay, leading to efficient execution. Close coordination was done with the security agencies, ROW authority and utility operator for seamless on-execution while taking appropriate health and safety measures.
