Bend Insensitive Fibers Improve Network Installation Performance and Maintenance

Monday, July 13, 2020, 1:00 PM IST / 8:30 AM London

Summary

Over the last few years we have seen a shift from G652.D to G657.A1 as a standard transmission fiber due to the improved bend performance. As fiber density in deployments increases the next logical step further in the same direction is broader deployment of G657.A2 -the next level in bend resistant fibers. Network installation, performance and maintenance benefits can be achieved by full, or even partial deployment of this highly bend insensitive fiber across the network, in particular if the chosen A2 fiber is fully backward compatible with legacy G652.D fiber.

In this Webinar we will discuss the benefits of deployment of highly bend insensitive fibers broader in the network.

Key Topics Included:

  1. Background on bend insensitive fiber standards
  2. Examples of deployment of highly bend insensitive fibers broader in the network and benefits realized
  3. Compatibility of A2 fibers with legacy fibers and actives.
